In 2019, the Foundations Annual Women's Lunch is celebrating its 10th year. The event brings together women from all sectors to network and to learn more about the Foundation and the impact of local giving in our region over a relaxed lunch.
Our host this year is Caroline Theobald and she will be chatting to some of the regions inspiring women who have been supported with funding from donors to the Foundation.
We have Linda Kirk, the founder of Just for Women Centre in Stanley who will share her story on how she has created a place where vulnerable women can access free counselling, learn skills, form friendships and re-build their confidence to get back into work. Since its launch, the centre has helped more than 3,500 women, including many survivors of abuse. Linda will be attending with one of her volunteers who joined in 2013 seeking help from Just for Women but is now a director and a key part of the team.
We also have Caroline Darnbrook who will be talking about how Darlington Building Society pledge to share 5% of their profits with local charities through the Community Foundation. She will discuss the culture of giving back to the communities their members live in both in terms of time, money and community space that Darlington Building Society has worked hard to establish.
The Foundation lunch is now well established in the calendars of professional women across County Durham and the North East, with supporters enjoying the fun, relaxing event.
Event registration usually begins at 11.45 am with reception drink on arrival, followed by a two-course lunch. Along with our guest speaker and lunch, the event will also incorporate a raffle and business card draw.
