JH Mechanical Services have chosen to support Secondary1st, a charity whose mission is to help fund research into the prevention, diagnosis and causes of secondary (metastatic) breast cancer and the development of more effective treatments. As it stands there is no cure for this disease and is a cause that is close to hearts of JH Mechanical Services. Liam McDermott, Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager at the business, lost his wife Carol aged 42, just last year after a tough battle with secondary breast cancer. Together they have 4 boys and their journey as a family has touched the hearts of many in the community.
Only a very small percentage of the large sums raised for breast cancer is spent on research into secondary breast cancer and little publicity is given to the disease, yet it is responsible for the deaths of nearly 1,000 women each month in the UK.
JH Mechanical Services are working with Secondary1st to help raise awareness of secondary breast cancer and the amazing work Secondary1st do. Finding a cure means everything, it means a diagnosis is no longer the end. It means people will have more days doing what matters most. It means daughters, mothers, fathers and sons get to keep living the life they love.
As part of their fundraising efforts, JH Mechanical Services have organised a Charity Black Tie Dinner to bring together the business community, friends and family to raise money to support the mission of Secondary 1st.
