From humble beginnings, Managing Director, Steve Cochrane, opened his first business in the North-East seaside town of Redcar in 1982. It was quirkily named, Sliced Tomatoes. This was a small boutique for the aspiring punk rocker to showcase his band’s unique dress style. Quickly, Steve realised he was better at business and fashion than he was at playing in a band and in 1984 the first Psyche boutique was born. Innovation was already top of Steve’s wish list as he brought high end designer brands such as Helmut Lang, Gucci, Dries Van Noten and Prada to the North East of England for the very first time. Customers couldn’t get enough and so a second store opened in 1988. This quickly became a landmark for the industrial town of Middlesbrough. Click to read more
