The Endeavour Partnership is hosting its second Darlington on the rise event, being held online on Wednesday 20th October, 9:30am-10:30am.

The main speaker is Mark Robinson. Originating from the North East, Mark is the chair of the Government-led High Street Task Force and is an expert in the development and regeneration of high streets across the UK, having been involved in the sale of the Castlegate Shopping Centre in Stockton. He will be talking about his experiences within the sector, followed by a Q&A.

We'll also hear from the newly appointed Mayor of Darlington Cyndi Hughes on her plans for the area and the key projects she'll be working on during her time in office.

The online event will be hosted by another local name, Peter Barron. Peter spent 40 years working for the Northern Echo before launching his own media company.

Mark Robinson, Director and Co-Founder of Ellandi

Mark is a high-profile leader in the world of retail property and placemaking, a position recognised with his appointment to lead the governments High Street Task Force in July 2020; following his role as Revo President in 2019.

Over nearly three decades Mark has worked in all aspects of the industry as an advisor, investor/developer and occupier. In 2008 he co-founded Ellandi, a business currently undertaking over 30 projects in the UK with a value in excess of £1.5bn.

In 2016 Ellandi won Property Entrepreneurs of the Year at the Property Awards and were shortlisted for the Retail Property Company of the Year award by Estates Gazette. Most recently Ellandi won the inaugural Estates Gazette Rewire award recognizing our commitment to leading diversity and inclusivity in the built environment industry.

Mark is a passionate advocate of the role of community in repurposing and shaping the purpose of our future places in response to the challenges and opportunities presented by the current market.

Cyndi Hughes, Mayor of Darlington

Cyndi Hughes has worked as a political adviser and legal researcher within the EU institutions, as a NATO “Challenges of Modern Society” Fellow, and is currently conducting educational research into child poverty on behalf of an expanding Multi-Academy Trust in the North East.

Cyndi served as Cabinet Member for Children and Young People on Darlington Borough Council from 2010-2019 and represented the North East on the Council of Europe and the EU’s Regional Assembly. Ivy League-educated with degrees in Politics, Education and Law, Cyndi has extensive advocacy experience and has written articles and features for journals and the regional press.
