In our first event of 2017, we are proud to announce our guest speaker as Andrew Lewis, Managing Director of the new Tees Valley Combined Authority and Local Enterprise Partnership.
Andrew is responsible for a £500 million programme of investment, with new powers and responsibilities devolved from central government. He will offer an insight into the forthcoming plans for Tees Valley's Devolution and a look to the future as how these plans will come to fruition.
Following Andrew's presentation, Kevin Parkes - Executive Director of Regeneration for Middlesbrough Borough Council, will present Middlesbrough's Investment plans, as it launches its first Investment Prospectus.

Andrew Lewis - Biography - Andrew took up the role as first Managing Director of the new Tees Valley Combined Authority and Local Enterprise Partnership in July 2016, to secure economic growth, jobs and new investment for the Tees Valley: an area of over 650,000 people covering Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees and Redcar and Cleveland. He is responsible for a £500 million programme of investment, with new powers and responsibilities devolved from central government, and a track record of strong cooperation between local councils, the business community and other partners. Under a devolution deal, TVCA is taking on new responsibilities for industrial strategy, employment growth, skills and education, housing, transport, culture and tourism, and will be chaired by a directly elected Mayor from May 2017. Andrew is also an Executive Board Member of Transport for the North, and participates in a number of national and regional initiatives in support of local economic development and devolution.
Before joining TVCA, Andrew was Assistant Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council from 2010-2016: a time of great challenge for local government with significant cuts and transformation of services. He was Director of the Northern Way from 2007-2010, responsible for a major programme of economic cooperation across the North of England. Andrew first came to the North East in 2004, as Deputy Regional Director for the Government Office for the North East. From 1991-2004 he was a senior economist in HM Treasury, with roles leading on tax policy, international economics, financial regulation and employment policy. He holds degrees in economics from Cambridge and Oxford Universities.
