Tees Valley Business Club are returning this month to Hartlepool College of Further Education which sits in the heart of the town of Hartlepool.

We have secured a variety of voices for you to enjoy highlighting progress in this part of the Tees Valley.

The club continues to raise awareness of developments hearing directly from those making the difference.

Running order for the event:

6:00pm – Arrivals, refreshments and networking
6:30pm - Welcome by Jane Reynolds MBE, chair, Tees Valley Business Club
6:35pm - Introduction by Gary Riches, vice principal, Hartlepool College of FE
6:40pm - Alison Gwynn, chief executive, North East Screen
6:55pm - Tony Hanson, executive director of development, neighbourhoods and regulatory services and councillor and Pam Hargreaves, chair of economic growth and regeneration committee, Hartlepool Borough Council
7:15pm - Gary Riches, vice principal of Hartlepool College of FE
7:35pm - Closing remarks, followed by networking

PRESENTERS

Alison Gwynn
CHIEF EXECUTIVE, NORTH EAST SCREEN

Alison leads North East Screen, North East England’s Screen Agency whose work is focused on

economic recovery and growth to deliver the sustainable development of the screen industries in

the region.

Alison has over 25 years’ experience in the culture and creative industry from providing marketing

leadership at the Centre for Life to being instrumental in the planning and development of Seven

Stories, the National Centre for Children’s Books. Her passion is to support the commercial business development of creative industry in North East England to be sustainable and thrive!

Recent achievements include securing an investment of £37 million in the region from both a

Partnership with the BBC and the formation of a landmark pan-region partnership – North East

Screen Industry Partnership (NESIP).

NESIP was formed by the 3 Combined and 12 Local Authorities from across the region to level up the regional film and TV industries by more than doubling its 2019 share of the UK production market and delivering an annual economic impact to the regional economy of £88m. Alison received a Royal Television Society award for Outstanding Contribution to the Screen industry in 2022.

North East Screen’s offices are in Hartlepool and Sunderland, and the organisation has been working across the wider Tees Valley for over 6 years. Alison champions the creative industry in Tees Valley through her role on the Tees Valley Business Board. She is also part of the Tees Valley Creative Place Advisory group and is committed to supporting Tees Valley talent, creatives, freelancers, and businesses to be the best that they can and reach their full potential.

Gary Riches
VICE PRINCIPAL OF HARTLEPOOL COLLEGE OF FURTHER EDUCATION

Gary Riches is the Vice Principal at Hartlepool College of Further Education, bringing

strategic leadership and a passion for driving organisational growth. Gary is dedicated to

ensuring the College continues to thrive as a centre of excellence for education and skills

development.

He oversees a diverse portfolio at the College, including the apprenticeship provision, adult

education and skills, commercial training, marketing and communications, business

development, employer engagement, and the College’s Student Support functions. His work

is integral to forging strong partnerships with local employers and industry leaders, ensuring

that the College´s programmes align with regional workforce needs and future economic

demands.
