Mike Patrick
SEMBCORP
Mike oversees Sembcorp’s operations comprising large-scale industrial assets on the Wilton International site, a portfolio of flexible gas engines and battery energy storage systems across the UK. He has over 20 years of financial experience having held a variety of roles both in the UK and internationally with Smith & Nephew.
Mike joined Sembcorp in 2021 as CFO, and since 2024, took on the additional role as Acting CEO. Prior to Sembcorp, he held the roles of commercial projects director and finance director of generation at Drax from 2017 to 2021. He also led a strategic programme at Drax designed to transition the business away from coal-fired generation to more sustainable solutions.
Mike has led several other successful internal transformational initiatives during his time at Drax and before that, at Smith & Nephew.
He is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. 
Adam Stewart
DECERNA
Adam is a Director at Decerna – a low carbon consultancy and developer, delivering Tees Valley Net Zero on behalf of the Tees Valley Mayor, Combined Authority, and the Tees Valley Business Board.
Supporting local businesses on the journey towards Net Zero, the £2.37 million programme is fully funded by UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
At least 600 businesses will be supported by fully funded consultancy and small grants to implement carbon-saving measures.
Providing everything a business needs for its Net Zero journey. Working with businesses of all sizes, helping to decarbonise operations with Carbon Reduction Plans (PPN 06/21), to understanding the environmental impacts of their products with Environmental Product Declarations, to learning what Net Zero means to their business, through to training on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Andrew Carter
REDCAR AND CLEVELAND BOROUGH COUNCIL
Born in Middlesbrough, Andrew is a specialist in Planning, Development and Regeneration with over 20 years experience in Local Government.
Having studied BSc Geography Andrew trained to be a Secondary School Teacher and practiced for many years before changing careers to utilise the earth science background as a Geologist with the Tees Valley Wildlife Trust. In early 2000’s Andrew then started a career in Planning in Local Government at Darlington Borough Council before joining Hartlepool Borough Council in a senior role. Andrew has an MSc in Environmental Planning and is Chartered Town Planner and Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
In 2020 Andrew joined Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and currently is responsible for Planning & Development, Place Development Investment, Business Growth, Employment & Skills and Health Protection.
Chris Oswin
MATERIALS PROCESSING INSTITUTE
Chris is Chief Operating Officer at the Materials Processing Institute focussing on executing the Institute´s business plan and delivering results on a daily basis.
After graduating from Durham University with a BSc in Physics in 1992 Chris joined what was then British Steel’s Research and Development facility based in Grangetown which means he has over 32 years of experience within the steel industry.
Since 2014 when the Institute became independent of Tata Steel Chris has had numerous different roles including IT Manager, Operations Director, Commercial Director and Account Manager giving him experience of all aspects of the work carried out by the Institute.
Razvan Hopet
BINDING SOLUTIONS
Razvan leads the engineering development programs to design and commission Binding Solutions’ Cold Agglomerated Pellet technology. He also supports the technology’s transition from laboratory level to commercial scalability.
Before Binding Solutions, Razvan was Manufacturing Production Supervisor at Nissan Motor Corporation’s UK plant. He also spent 12 years at Teesside Steelworks under Corus, Tata Steel and SSI UK where his role covered operational, engineering, and technical engineering planning.
Razvan holds a Bachelor of Engineering Science (BSc) from the University of Lincoln and is a member of the Chartered Management Institute.
