For this month’s event members and guests gathered at AV Dawson’s brand new office facilities, a new location for the Tees Valley Business Club. We were joined by event sponsors Square One Law who presented their new campaign to the members. We also welcomed James Latcham of Tees Valley Combined Authority, John McCabe of North East England Chamber of Commerce and guest speakers spoke about how they accessed and made use of the Tees Valley Combined Authority Growth Fund.

Chair of the club, Jane Reynolds MBE, started the evening by thanking members and guests for attending another jam-packed event.

Firstly, Gary Dawson of AV Dawson, welcomed guests to their new facility by video shortly followed by Charlie Nettle of AV Dawson, who gave an overview of the progress made in the last 10 years and future plans.

Jane welcomed Ian Gilthorpe senior partner of Square One Law to the stage to discuss the firms’ latest campaign. Ian began by speaking about how brilliant the business club has been over the years by bringing businesses together and went on to talk about how fantastic AV Dawson’s new facility is. Square One Law opened a new office in the Tees Valley three years ago in Stockton and have recently moved to Darlington. The firm has launched a new campaign to show their differentiation in their industry and chose to do this by turning to the creative arts to creatively communicate their commitment to helping clients.

James Latcham, Tees Valley Business growth programme manager spoke next about the business support available in the Tees Valley. James urged businesses to speak to the team of advisors for advice, support and access to finance and funding to grow your business. The support is impartial and fully funded meaning there is no cost to your business.

Gary Thompson from Jag Design took to the stage to speak to businesses who have accessed the Tees Valley Business Growth Fund. Keith Rutherford from 1st Choice Recycling said the funding was simple to receive and it helped transform their business.

Artist, Suzie Devey, thanked Tees Valley Combined Authority for not only supporting her with finance but for their constant advice. Angela Davidson from Tinkleguard has developed a new product and explained how the funding was essential when she needed support with BID writing.

Next up we heard an update from John McCabe from NEECC, who spoke about the Chamber’s priorities for the next year.

In addition to our speaker line up, we heard from Katie Gibson of Twenty Seven Productions who presented her play Steel & Iron which will run from 11th - 17th July at the Riverside Stadium. Finally, thank you to Andrew Stogdale from Spark Tees Valley for sharing his 'world of work map' which is currently being used on the World of Work events held at AV Dawson throughout the Summer.
