Ben Bags Business Administration Apprenticeship at Biochemica

March 8th 2014

Water and wastewater treatment firm, Biochemica UK Ltd is showing its support for National Apprenticeship Week 2014 with the appointment of a Business Administration Apprentice.

Ben Nath, 18 from Thornaby was selected by Biochemica bosses as the latest recruit to join the water treatment specialist’s ever-growing team and started his new role as Administrative Assistant during the nationwide awareness week.

Based at Biochemica’s headquarters in Billingham, Ben now works with each of the company’s divisions and key departments to support its UK-wide employee and client base.

The Administrative Assistant position was especially created following a string of new water treatment and wastewater treatment service contract wins for Biochemica, and a subsequent increase in demand for the effective delivery of administrative support services.

Biochemica’s HSE Manager Stephen Andrew oversaw the recruitment process. He said: “Biochemica truly appreciates the importance of apprenticeships, with many of our technical service team, head office staff and even our Managing Director having completed programmes themselves at the start of their careers.

“Taking on an apprentice seemed the natural choice for us as we wanted to increase productivity while investing in employment opportunities for local young people. An apprentice also suits the direction Biochemica is taking as a business from a long term development perspective.”

Commenting on his appointment, Ben said: “I’m really excited about starting my new job at Biochemica. My role promises to be incredibly varied as I’ll be working with so many different departments to support the smooth running of the overall business, from warehouse operations, logistics and procurement, HR and finance, to the health, safety and environment, marketing and business development teams.”

Stephen finished: “We were impressed with Ben’s positive attitude and dedicated work ethic – all attributes that complement Biochemica’s values, so he was the ideal candidate to join our team and at what better time than during National Apprenticeship Week.”
