Bentleys Coffee Shop joins ranks of Small Biz 100

Middlesbrough business Bentley’s Coffee Shop will be given a spell in the limelight as part of this year’s Small Biz 100, a national campaign highlighting some of the UK’s most inspiring small businesses.

Marking 100 days building up to Small Business Saturday (smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com) on 5 December 2020, the Small Biz 100 provides a major profile boost to small businesses across the UK, particularly at this challenging time.

Showcasing a daily celebration of the Small Biz 100 through social media, the campaign aims to support and celebrate a vibrant range of small, community driven businesses across the UK.

Established in 2019, Bentley’s Coffee Shop is an independent, family-run coffee shop serving locally sourced coffee, tea, light bites and sweet treats, based in the Parkway Shopping Centre and Middlesbrough Sports Village in Middlesbrough and within the Debenhams stores in Beverley, Scarborough and Scunthorpe, will be placed in the spotlight on October 16th 2020, and the teams will be celebrating with our customers with some Small Biz 100 cakes.

Martin Smith, co-owner said: “We are thrilled to have been selected as part of the Small Biz 100. We were over the moon when we discovered that we even had our own special day to celebrate our success with our teams and we can’t wait for October 16th!

Co-owner, Helen Smith, added: “We have an amazing cake-maker inhouse at one of our premises and we have no doubt that a celebration cake will be in order for the day.”

Emily Bentley said: “We never would’ve thought that we would have been ranked in this important list, especially since we’ve only been trading for just over a year. The legacy and opportunity that being part of the Small Biz 100 is going to bring will be invaluable for years to come. We are very humbled to have been included.”

Among the other firms being recognised are a family run florist in Bristol, a beauty salon in Inverness, and a wine school in Chester.

Now in its eighth year in the UK, Small Business Saturday has grown significantly each year, with a record turnout of 17.6 million people choosing to shop small on the day last year, generating an estimated £800m.
