Tees Maritime Cluster is developing a new civic installation in partnership with Middlesbrough Football Club that will celebrate Teesside’s international trade connections and the diverse talent that has represented the Boro.

The project will feature 24 large-format banner flags installed along a key route, each linking a country connected to Teesside’s global trade routes with a player who has worn the Middlesbrough shirt. Together, the installation will tell a powerful story about how this region connects to the wider world through both industry and sport.

Alongside the installation, we are also working with Spark Tees Valley to produce a series of short educational videos that will be accessible alongside the flags and shared with more than 200 primary schools across the Tees Valley, helping young people understand the region’s global connections and the opportunities that exist here.

While the project will be funded predominantly by the cluster and its members, the wider regional reach of the installation means we are inviting a small number of organisations to support the project as partners.

For businesses across the Tees Valley, this is an opportunity to support a project that brings together industry, community and the football club, while celebrating the region’s international outlook and inspiring the next generation.
