By bringing together industry leaders, local businesses, and education providers, the cluster fosters innovation, sustainability, and workforce development - positioning Teesside as a national centre of maritime excellence and a key player in the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.

Initially funded by the Department for Transport through Maritime UK, Tees Maritime is guided by an independent board and is working towards long-term self-sufficiency. Its focus is on attracting inward investment, building a diverse and highly skilled workforce, and unlocking the region’s economic potential - supporting the energy transition and delivering meaningful social impact for local communities.
