A Darlington businessman is heading to Peru to undertake a gruelling charity trek to UNESCO World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu to raise vital funds for COCO Charity.
Douglas Dinwidde, MD of Darlington Digital Marketing Agency, White Digital will set off on his adventure on the 29th September 2022 and is looking to raise at least £10,000 ahead of the trek with Newcastle based charity COCO. COCO empowers communities in East Africa to lift themselves out of poverty by providing a variety of different resources and working with local communities directly.
From supplying sustainable sources of quality education to children living in poor and marginalised communities across East Africa, to providing Sustainable Agriculture Training to farmers living in remote communities and offering small loans to members of the community through our partner organisations, COCO are a vital part of the development of communities in East Africa.
“As a kid I grew up in a wealthy family and comfortable western lifestyle. It was very safe, I had access to a great education, and always had a choice and as an adult, I am very grateful for this and how it allowed me to get where I am today in my personal life and in business.
I am, however, incredibly aware that there are many children in the world who don't have the opportunity to grow and live in the way I did. I am passionate about helping in any way that I can and help to close the divides and inequalities that exist by giving young people the chance to have a healthy and happy life, no matter where they are in the world.
"The trek to Machu Picchu is a huge challenge and not only does it highlight the inequalities and difficulties communities face in Eastern Africa but raising funds can completely change lives. Donations of any size are massively appreciated!” explains Doug.
