AN award-winning construction firm could be in the running for more plaudits after a double nomination in a prestigious competition.

Gus Robinson Developments Ltd is no stranger to success having won a variety of honours in sector ceremonies in recent years.

Just last month, the Hartlepool-based firm was crowned as winner of the Heart of the Community award in the Teesside section and will now battle out for the main award in the regional finals at Hardwick Hall, in Sedgefield, on April 23.

Site manager Allan Burgin has been shortlisted for the regional section of the LABC Building Excellence Awards at the Hilton in Newcastle on June 5 in recognition of his work, and if he progresses through that he will go to London for the national finals later this year.

On top of that, the firm’s work on the Crown House project was also shortlisted for an honour in the same set of awards.
Bosses at Gus Robinson Developments Ltd have now been informed that judges in the Construction Excellence Awards have shortlisted them for the SME of the Year while Operations Manager Adam Readhead and Commercial Manager Matthew Jowsey are in the Young Achiever of the Year section.

Land & Development Director, Steve Bell, said: “It is always nice to be recognised in awards ceremonies, as there is a lot of high quality competition in all of the sections from our competitors.

“The Construction Excellence Awards are highly thought of within the industry, and it is a pat on the back for the whole company that we have been shortlisted.

“We are particularly pleased that both Adam and Matthew have been recognised in the Young Achiever category.

“They both joined us as young apprentices, and they have progressed through the ranks to become hugely important parts of our team.”

The ceremony takes place at the Marriott Hotel, in Newcastle, on May 8.
