Inspire2Learn: Events where you could really make a difference

December 12th 2017

Four dates this side of Christmas that you could really make a difference to young people at Inspire2Learn:-

10th November - Aspiration Y8/9

20min sessions with small groups of pupils (inc an adult), pre their GCSE choices. A bit of hands on, a bit of activity, a bit of questions, a bit of talking. Show them what is available in your company/role/sector and inspire them to do better.
9.30 - 11.30 and 12.30 - 2.30 support needed for both sessions (we feed you in between though!)

15th November - Inspiring Boys
This is aimed at Inspiring Boys to be the best they can be. Could you talk about your journey in life, your career choices, your opportunities, your setbacks for about half an hour to 20 secondary boys (inc an adult)? There is rightly a big push to support girls into STEM subjects and wider opportunities but we also have high levels of disengagement amongst boys in this area and this is your chance to do something about it.
9.30 - 2.30 but we would love to welcome you even for an hour at some point.

21st November - STEM Day
Usual format 45 min sessions between 9.30 and 12.30 (with breaks!) with groups of about 20. Aimed at inspiring pupils in STEM subjects. You are very welcome to create your own activities or we have many that you could simply run (STIX construction, robot programming, water rockets etc).

We are also keen to engage one of you to issue a challenge project for the children to carry on back in school. The challenge is issued at about 2pm as part of the afternoon session. If anybody is interested but maybe can't make it, we would welcome a Skype type call in. Please contact me for a natter.

12th December - Maths in the World of Work
Do you use Maths in your daily work? Brilliant, could you come and lead a 50 min session with some switched on Y8/9s focussing on how maths is crucial to your job? As much hands on as possible, please contact me to help you structure your session.

Hope to see you all soon, Andrew Stogdale, Inspire2Learn www.inspire2learn.org.uk
