What springs to mind when you think about networking? Eating pastries at an ungodly hour of the morning, sinking under a sea of business cards, being trapped by a ‘motor mouth’ in the corner of the room?
Well when networking works, you can gain information, inspiration and opportunities to help you achieve your goals.
We all know between 250 and 400 people, who in turn know between 250 and 400 people. Imagine the impact of utilising all of those contacts!
Making More of Your Mingling will be an interactive and practical workshop offering common sense tools and techniques to make your networking more productive. It will help you to:
· Understand the concept of networking and social capital development.
· Realise who is in your network.
· Show how you can make your network work for you.
· Provide you with tools and techniques to help you to network more effectively.
· Achieve your personal goals and those of your business.

About the speaker
Beginning her career working on a Development Programme in the Sudan, Dinah returned to the UK and spent two years as a Chancery Associate at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.
She spent twenty years at Durham University initially responsible for an innovative research programme into Market Development in the Independent Growth Firm. The results of this work have been disseminated via books, BBC Television Series and training programmes internationally.
Dinah researched and taught internationally on marketing related issues and the concept of Networking and Relationship Management in relation to successful Business Development. She calls herself a ‘pracademic’ a practical academic who is able to translate the theory into practice. Latterly Dinah was Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning where she had a remit of supporting the development of entrepreneurial practices across the University. The Centre not only worked with staff and students within the University but also engaged with a range of stakeholders nationally and internationally in over 40 countries.
As a founding director of the International Centre for Entrepreneurship, Dinah designs and delivers business and entrepreneurial development programmes internationally (most recently in Yemen, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, China and Libya) often working in partnership with agencies such as the UN, International Labour organization and British Council.
Dinah is a passionate advocate of women’s enterprise and constantly strives to ensure effective support for women owned businesses. She is currently an adviser to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Entrepreneurship and acts as an expert on several European Committees on Women Enterprise.
Dinah is soon to launch the Global Exchange for Women’s Enterprise – ensuring appropriate support for women who wish to start and grow businesses. Dinah is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has been a trustee of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship since 2004. In 2005 Dinah won an individual Queen’s Award for Enterprise Promotion in recognition of her work promoting women’s enterprise nationally and internationally and in 2007 she was awarded The UK’s Confederation of British Industry’s (CBI) Corporate Woman Award for her outstanding work in supporting women’s entrepreneurship. Dinah was awarded an OBE in recognition of her support for Women’s entrepreneurship.
The cost is minimal – £5 for members and £10 for non-members. Members should use their code during registration to apply the discount.
As you probably know, a quick response is required to ensure that you are allocated a place. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.
