Peter Gibson MP has set up a Facebook group ‘Darlington MEANS Business’ exclusively for local business leaders to maintain communications in these challenging times. Mr Gibson is hoping to be able to engage with local business.
The Facebook group will help business talk to support one another and let Mr Gibson hear the concerns of local business leaders.
As of May 4th the Facebook group had already attracted over 300 members, representing around 15% of Darlington’s business community. Mr Gibson encourages all business from sole traders to big business to join the group to have their opinions heard and so Mr Gibson can better serve them as MP.
Peter Gibson said: ‘I want to support businesses in Darlington whether they are large or small, local, national or international. Darlington has a proud heritage of commerce and entrepreneurship; I want to see this continue. This forum lets business share ideas and celebrate all that is great about business in our town.’
Mr Gibson has already used the group to post updates on what he has been doing along with his colleagues to lobby the Government for additional business support. Mr Gibson intends to continue to listen to businesses to target small businesses that currently fall out of scope of the two existing schemes.
Further, Mr Gibson hopes that businesses can use this forum to celebrate one another for the support they are providing to the community. This forum has already proved popular among business leaders and Mr Gibson hopes that the forum will only grow over the coming weeks.
The group can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/242450243497286/ and is open to all business in Darlington and leaders are invited to join.
