ABCarbon is a strategic advisory and consultancy business supporting organisations at the intersection of applied technology, commercialisation, sustainability and regulatory compliance. Founded by Andrew Buchanan, the company specialises in high-hazard environments, drawing on deep expertise from across the process sector. Having built his career on Teesside since 1999, Andrew has developed a strong track record in environmental safety and decarbonisation, working on complex projects within regulated and industrial settings. Through ABCarbon, he brings that experience to clients in a way that is both practical and strategic, offering agile, insight-led solutions. Clients gain access to Andrew’s extensive industry knowledge, credibility and commitment to honest, informed decision-making.

Andrew first encountered Tees Valley Business Club in 2017 when he was invited to present at an event in Redcar. His decision to join reflects a belief in the strength of collaboration across the region and the value of shared expertise. As Andrew explains: “I am very aware that as individuals we can come together as representatives and experts in the region, likeminded people working hard to get results. We are not as divided or different as we might think, we have the same purpose to promote success for the area, each other and ourselves.”

As well as leading ABCarbon, Andrew is also a trustee of Matrix Neurological, a charity providing community based rehabilitation and support for children and young people, and an Entrepreneur in Residence for Refugee Futures, supporting individuals to explore business opportunities.
