SHiFT is a national charity working with children and young people whose lives are affected by crime and social harm. The vision is to break destructive cycles and create safer, healthier futures. They do this through long-term, relationship-based work led by expert guides, trusted professionals who stand alongside children, young people and their families to help them make different choices and access new opportunities.
The approach is systemic, anti-racist and anti-oppressive. We work with the whole network around a young person - family, schools, children’s services, police, and community organisations - to influence not just individual trajectories but the systems that surround them.
When asked why they joined the Club, James Preston, chief operating officer, said, "SHiFT is built on collaboration. We believe lasting change happens when communities and organisations come together around a shared purpose. Joining Tees Valley Business Club gives us the chance to connect with local businesses, learn from different perspectives, and build relationships that can open new doors for the children and young people we work with."
We are coming to the end of 18 months of work in South Tees and are currently preparing our end-of-programme reports. We’re excited to share the progress and outcomes achieved through fantastic partnership working, and to look ahead to the future of this collaboration.
