New Member - Teesside Hospice

Teesside Hospice supports people affected by life limiting illness, helping them live as well as possible for as long as possible, while supporting families to make the most of every day together.

The hospice provides five key services across the area:
  • A 10-bed In-Patient Unit providing 24-hour specialist care
  • A Wellbeing Centre offering a welcoming space where individuals can receive care and participate in activities while living at home
  • Outreach services to offer support in the home
  • Bereavement Counselling, available to everyone in the Teesside area over the age of seven
  • A Tees-wide Lymphoedema Clinic, which offers specialist treatment.

With one in three people nationally dying without access to proper end of life care, Teesside Hospice is committed to ensuring more people and their families can access the support they need.

It currently costs £20,500 every day to run the hospice’s services, with less than 30% coming from statutory funding. The remainder has to be raised through the generosity of supporters, including local businesses.

Hassan Hameed, corporate partnerships manager said: “The support we receive from local companies is invaluable, whether that’s through donations, fundraising, events, volunteering or finding other ways to get involved.

“Joining the Tees Valley Business Club gives us the opportunity to meet more businesses across the region, raise awareness of the support we provide and, importantly, build relationships and partnerships that can help us reach more people.”

The hospice also recently received the highest possible rating of Outstanding from the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in June. It was rated Outstanding in four of the five areas assessed: effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Earlier this year, Teesside Hospice merged with Butterwick Hospice, bringing two neighbouring hospices together to help meet growing demand for end of life care across the Tees Valley and County Durham and support the long-term sustainability of services.

The charity was recognised as a finalist for Charity of the Year at the North East Charity Awards 2026.
