P+HS strengthens Board with appointment of residential leader Katie Shepherd.
P+HS Architects has appointed Katie Shepherd as a shareholding Director, recognising her contribution to residential development and regeneration across the North East and strengthening the practice´s leadership team as it continues to grow.
Katie, an architect and P+HS Residential Lead, joined the practice in 2017, becoming an Associate in 2018 and Associate Director in 2022. During that time, she has played a significant role in developing P+HS´s residential portfolio, with a particular focus on creating high-quality homes and communities that respond to local needs.
Her work includes regeneration-led housing schemes across the North East, including a social impact-driven regeneration project in Horden, County Durham, alongside the development of Clasper Village, a flagship Homes England-related residential scheme.
With a background in architecture and an MA in Urban Design, Katie brings extensive experience in large-scale masterplanning, social housing, specialist residential design and later living. Her approach places particular emphasis on the relationship between people, place and community, combining high-quality design with long-term social value.
Beyond project delivery, Katie is an active voice within the wider housing sector. She is a Board Member of Women in Social Housing (WISH) and sits on the Yorkshire Design Review Panel, representing architecture and masterplanning. She has previously been recognised as Mentor of the Year at the Women in Construction Awards and has helped lead P+HS´s Future of Residential Design series, bringing together voices from across the sector to explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the places we live.
James Almond, Managing Director at P+HS Architects, said: “Katie’s appointment is thoroughly deserved and reflects the huge contribution she has made to P+HS since joining us. She combines excellent design and sector knowledge with a real ability to bring people together, develop teams and build strong relationships with our clients.
“Katie has been instrumental in growing our residential work and has become an important voice within the wider industry. As we look to the next stage of P+HS’s growth, it is hugely important that we continue to strengthen our leadership team with people who understand our business, share our ambitions and care deeply about the work we do and the people we do it with.
“I’m delighted to welcome Katie as a Director and shareholder and very much look forward to what she will bring to the Board.”
Katie Shepherd said: “I’m incredibly proud to become a Director and shareholder at P+HS. Since joining the practice in 2017, it has been hugely rewarding to help grow our residential work and contribute to projects that are making a real difference to communities across the North East and beyond.
“What has always mattered to me is creating places that genuinely work for the people who live in them, while supporting the talented people around me to develop and succeed. Becoming a shareholder gives me the opportunity to play an even greater role in shaping the future of P+HS, and I’m really excited about what comes next.”
Katie will continue to lead and develop the practice´s residential work alongside her new responsibilities as a Director, shareholder and member of the Board. Her appointment forms part of P+HS´s continued focus on developing leadership from within the practice and building a strong platform for its next phase of growth.
