Senior appointment strengthens accountancy firm

Teesside chartered accountancy practice Baines Jewitt has welcomed a new accounts senior.

Ashleigh Murphy from Billingham has joined the Stockton-based firm, bringing over 18 years’ accountancy experience, across a range of sectors, with her.

Ashleigh started her career as a trainee, progressing to become a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) in 2015.

Ashleigh’s position is the third senior appointment by Baines Jewitt within the last few months. Don Adams, director, Baines Jewitt explains the thinking behind the firm’s recruitment strategy.

“As well as adding value and strengthening our team to meet the demands of current and future clients, we recognise that we need a well-executed staff transition plan to keep things running smoothly, especially as long-standing members of the team reach retirement.

“This includes bringing in new team members, whether it’s those just starting out on their accountancy career journeys or those with more experience who want to fill future leadership roles.”

Talking of her new position at Baines Jewitt, Ashleigh said: “Many larger accountancy practices have become process-driven, instead of really getting to know clients and putting them at the heart of the service they provide.

“What attracted me to a job at Baines Jewitt was the more personal approach. Whether preparing accounts and corporation tax returns for sole traders, start-up companies, family firms, small and medium-sized enterprises or large corporate businesses with several hundred employees, we want our clients to succeed and see ourselves as an extension of their teams.”

To switch off from work, Ashleigh enjoys spending time with her two sporty sons, reading, cooking and socialising.
