2020 has thrown an unexpected challenge at all of us. With a lockdown, businesses have had to adapt and pivot at a faster rate than we have potentially ever seen before.
More and more people are embracing online, and the team at The Digital Gene have succeeded in helping businesses from across the country achieve their digital potential. This has resulted in a summer of huge success and growth for the start-up.
At the beginning of the year, Gary Vance merged his business, Clear Chaos, with the business becoming the third director; joining the founding directors, Sharon and Declan Williams. As a team they felt stronger together and set big targets for the year. Then the pandemic hit and there was a moment of uncertainty.
“The first two weeks of lockdown were pretty scary. We weren’t sure if everyone would stop spending and investing in websites and digital marketing. As time went on, it was fascinating to watch entrepreneurial spirit kick in. Most business leaders pivoted and continued to trade in new ways. We are so lucky to have the technology that facilitates this”, Sharon details.
As summer approached, it was obvious that the growth targets set for 2020 were going to become a reality. The team were working harder than ever, marketing like every before including their launching a podcast called ‘It’s In The Genes’ with additional online networking.
“We are proud to reveal that our hard work has paid off. Initially June was our best month on record but that was beaten more recently by August”, Declan celebrates.
New director Gary also echoes this sentiment.
“We’re coming off a very successful summer period which traditionally takes a dip due to the school holidays. We’re hoping to build on this success into the autumn as all signs are looking promising. It’s been so worthwhile to merge my business with The Digital Gene and I look forward optimistically to the future”.
