Supply chain management company The NBT Group, which includes Evolution MRO, has appointed former growth director Peter Oram to CEO as the company looks to grow and continue to build on a successful 2018.
The 110-year-old Killingworth-based firm, which secured first place in 2018's Fastest 50 Awards, is known in the region for its rich family heritage and innovative approach to a once traditional industry. Peter Orams appointment marks the firms first non-family member on the company board.
Peter joined The NBT Group as growth director almost five years ago when the firm acquired his business, Evolution MRO. In this time, his role has been to work alongside The NBT Group's Toby Bridges to bring the business into the 21st century through innovative processes and internal structuring with tribes and squads.
Speaking on his new role, Peter Oram said: "I'm extremely proud and excited to have been given this opportunity and I'm looking forward to continuing the fantastic work from our previous CEO.
"Toby has made a massive step in taking the business to the next level and I intend to continue to build on that. We've had a successful three years at The NBT Group in which weve seen a significant growth in turnover and I'll be looking to create a strong platform so that we are a great place to grow for customers, suppliers and staff."
In three years alone, The NBT Group has seen annual turnover increase from £3m to £14m and investment has been made into creating an internal culture with training, development and wellbeing at its core.
The promotion of Peter Oram will see previous CEO Toby Bridges step into the role of executive chair and continue to take The NBT Group from strength-to-strength. Toby's father, Michael Bridges, will step into a non-executive role to ensure that the growth and businesss strong family ethic continues.
Toby Bridges, executive chair at The NBT Group, said: "We've seen a huge growth for The NBT Group recently and we have no intention of slowing down. Our investment into new technology has enabled us to grow across our key sectors including the automotive, rail, food & beverage and general manufacturing industries, and increase the offerings for our existing clients.
"Since joining the business, Peter has helped drive the growth of The NBT Group and has a clear idea on what the future will hold. We have changed radically in the last three years alone and its an ever-evolving journey. We're really excited to see what the future holds."
Established over a century ago, The NBT Group has pivoted to become a fully integrated supply chain management company which carries out thousands of transactions per month for a range of clients.
