Tilly Bailey & Irvine announces new appointments

2017 was a busy and exciting year for Tilly Bailey & Irvine law firm. It celebrated 175 years in business, its continued success with further accolades in the 2017 Legal 500, being a finalist in the 2017 Northern Law Awards and the appointment of a new managing partner, to name only a few of many highlights. 2018 will see further development and promises to be another excellent year with a number of projects for clients already underway.

The Commercial Property team has been further strengthened with the appointment of two new partners, Gareth Jones and Joanne Cowie. The Commercial Property team services clients across the UK, including large national corporations, banks and other lenders, investors, pension trustees, developers and builders.

Gareth has joined to head up the seven-strong Commercial Property team, based out of the dedicated commercial office at Wynyard Business Park and has approaching 25 years specialist experience in the Yorkshire and north east Commercial Property sector. He is a well-known and highly respected lawyer. Gareth acts for a number of local, regional and national clients on property portfolio management and property finance matters.

Gareth said:"I am delighted to join Tilly Bailey & Irvine and am looking forward to further promoting and building on the impressive expertise within the team."

Joanne has over 20 years experience as a property lawyer in the north east and combines her Commercial Property work with that of her busy practice as a Notary Public. There are very few Notaries in England and even fewer in the North East. Notaries are an entirely separate and independent branch of the legal profession and deal with verification of events, documents and facts for individuals and companies who have property, work, court proceedings and business in foreign jurisdictions worldwide.

Joanne commented, "I am already seeing at first hand the significant benefit to clients of having a wide range of full-time commercial services available at our dedicated commercial office. The collaborative approach to finding solutions and progressing matters for clients is immediately apparent."

Alison Leith, Head of Commercial said, "Having Gareth and Joanne join us as our newest partners was a great end to a particularly successful year. We are delighted they have joined. Both have strong reputations in the North East and will help us further build on the firms full service offering."
