ExploreExport 2013 provides a unique opportunity for businesses to take advantage of the collective insight and knowledge of highly experienced international trade specialists and will help companies to enter new markets and expand current markets with confidence. Over 120 UK Trade & Investment Commercial Officers from 74 markets will tour the UK, with over 70 visiting the North East, to offer valuable export advice to UK companies that are thinking of exporting for the first time, or expanding their export reach into new markets.

Commercial Officers are international market specialists who can provide valuable insights, direct routes to market and new business opportunities aimed specifically at UK companies. In addition a series of seminars will run alongside the 1-2-1 meetings aimed at informing companies how to overcome some of the basic barriers to export, these include:

Prepare to enter the global market

Join us in North Tyneside for our workshop to help you prepare for your first steps into international trade; gain an invaluable insight into exporting and tips which can help build confidence and company capability.

This event is aimed at companies who have the potential to export. There are significant business benefits in entering the global market and making these initial steps is key to future growth and profitability - typically companies see a 33% increase in productivity within the first year and a 30% growth in sales by the end of the second. This free event will provide insight and analysis of the region’s top 5 export markets and those considered to offer the greatest potential for export growth.

Why are the North East's 5 top export markets the Netherlands, USA, France, Russia & Spain and what are the opportunities for North East SMEs?

Other markets for North East SMEs with huge export potential include Germany, China, India, Belgium and the Irish Republic.

We will provide a market overview, analyse current export statistics and highlight current opportunities for North East SMEs. The event will end with an interactive audience vote to identify the top 5 markets of interest to North East companies, and the results will inform a series of seminars on those markets over the next 6 months.

This is the final event of Export Week - A World of Opportunities for the North East region and will conclude with UKTI North East recognising the region's Best Women in International Business. To inspire our region’s female entrepreneurs and key business women, the North East Chamber of Commerce Woman’s Advisory Board are delighted to be partnering with UKTI in Export Week to present an inaugural North East Women’s Conference.

The IF (Inspiring Females) Conference is a one day event showcasing some of the UK’s top female speakers, including Sandra Rogers, Managing Director - Marketing, UKTI, plus an opportunity to hear great case studies and take part in some practical workshops, all aimed at supporting business growth for our regions women. The event will be hosted at Gateshead College on 15th November from 9:30 to 15:30 and coincides with this year’s North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards taking place that evening at the Gateshead Hilton where some of the region’s top females will be honored for their business successes.
